L a z u l i _ y e l l o w - Brave Yellow World

Brave Yellow World is a spacious and eclectic bath of tunes. Written in a little over a year; some tracks I've had for a while and finally touched them up ready for a full album release. BYW starts with a good blend of vaporwave / mallsoft. Then a mix of upbeat and colorful vapor-synth / slushwave vibes. The third and final section wraps up the album with a contrast of sparkling bubbly slush/vapor tracks alongside some of the more ominous tracks on the album. Each section is divided up with an ambient interlude. GBA & Cassette available on Oasis Ltd.

Released: May 25th, 2023

E-thernet [single]

Upbeat single version of "E-thernet" - Using a mix of analog drum machines and synths. Dissonant airy pads fill out the track in a wave of sound. Paired with some percussion and bass guitar to bring you a funky new vaporwave / electronic tune. Checkout the video here!
Full visual album coming later 2023!

Released: January 22nd, 2023

W Y L D T I M E [w/Spiral Sounds]

Been sitting on this track for over 2 years now. Finally got around to finishing it up, as well as creating a vaporwave remix. Thumping, grooving pop/house beats and percussion. Pumping synth bass paired with a "Jefferson Airplane" sample of Wild Tyme is a perfect vapor-funk combo. Scream synths swell in the chorus hook and bounce of some techno-like percussion. Spiral sounds own vocals used in the chorus and glitched out in the second verse. Checkout the amazing music video!

Released: January 1st, 2023

♍︎❒︎⍓︎⬧︎⧫︎♋︎●︎ ♌︎♋︎●︎●︎ [single]

The vaporwave/future funk/nu-disco collaboration of the year! Super excited to present this triple threat single from myself Vivi Vulture and Donor Lens! I'm on vocals with some little guitar noodles here and there. Vivi did some amazing work on the keys and leads. Donor Lens held down the rhythm and grooves perfectly!

Released: September 14th, 2022

PIPEWRLD

Split album between myself as L a z u l i _ y e l l o w and BOSEBY from the Marblesoft./Memorysoft. series. The split starts off with vapor-hiphop, clout rap and some genre bending between those. BOSEBY’s alt hiphop vocals either cut through the beat (Off White Sand) and get in your face or hang back and gel with the instrumental using more repetition. L a z u l i ‘s side starts with a collab vaportrap tune, to a remix of a BOSEBY track then finishing it all off with 3 slushy vaporwave tunes. Cassettes available here:

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w; Vivi Vulture - INSTALLATION DISK

Earlier this year Matt (Vivi Vulture) came down to Philadelphia to write some tunes IRL with me. I had this idea of an album in mind, but no concrete ideas. After just a few days of writing together we were able to come up with these 15 new songs; including the new single "Screensaver." We wanted to capture the essence of an old start up disk that brainwashes the user and transports them into the computer. Cassettes available here.

Released: July 23rd, 2022

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w; Vivi Vulture - Screensaver [single]

Fun summer bop from L a z u l i _ y e l l o w & Vivi Vulture! Live drums, funky flourishing riffs from juicy guitars, synths and flute; all meshed together in this groovin' collaboration. Deconstructed and put back together; then floats into a crunchy classic vaporwave outro. Precursor and teaser to “INSTALLATION DISK” - continuing the themes of 90s tech and nostalgia. Plenty more to come from this duo ~

Released: July 11th, 2022

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w - Videopolis

Couldn’t be happier with this album. I feel like this is the sound I’ve tried to achieve from the start of creating vaporwave in 2020. The entire album is 90% sample based; but each track has its own unique processing chain to create all different shades of nostalgic vibes. Themed after the discontinued Disney nightclub. Complete with a full visual album.
Thanks to Oasis Ltd. for the support on this!

Released: March 3rd, 2022

L a z u l i _ y e l l ow - SCP-3008 INFINITE IKEA [single]

Themed/Inspired by SCP-3008.
SCP-3008: A Perfectly Normal, Regular Old IKEA by Mortos.
A blurry blend of around a dozen guitars extremely reverbed and filtered out of focus. Some pitched lower for more bass-y tones and some pitched higher for more spacey textures to gel with the reverbs. Paired with a simple drum loop and some sfx in the beginning. Certainly gives the vibe of walking into a store of infinity. Check out the visual here.

Released: January 23rd, 2022

L a z u l i _ y e l l o w; Vivi Vulture - Secret Levels

Proud to present “Secret Levels” as a full 50/50 split between myself and Vivi Vulture (Matt Walsh). I feel like the album is a perfect blend of our styles. Matt is a great keyboard player and has written a some amazing progressions and ideas that I was able to write on top of and manipulate. The process was always some variation of us sending one another half a song and we would finish or craft it into something different. A blend of vaporwave, mallsoft, vgm and so much more. Tapes are available via Global Pattern each tape comes with custom Lazuli & Vivi trading cards!

Released: October 1st, 2021

Magic Palace

No samples used. This is somewhat of a part 2 from “TAKECAREOFU”
Really proud of this one. Maybe I'll continue this style later this year. Released with Virtua94 and they had this to say about it.
"Philadelphia resident L a z u l i _ y e l l o w joins the Virtua94 team with their newest project "Magic Palace", a handful of tracks that will keep you in a total state of daydreaming through the city, while bringing you back to life with its ambient arrangements and cosmic euphoria. A very settling EP to help you completely disengage from reality and understand a deeper side of yourself within its realm of subconscious atonement."

Released: April 30th, 2021

Takecareofu Final Final.jpg

TAKECAREOFU

A dripping mesh of sound. No samples used. With heavy processing and warping my own voice features on the title track. The whole EP is different versions of the same song with slightly different elements, timings, pitching and processing. Each a different experience yet cohesive with the rest of the songs. Track 4 however was composed of completely different samples. It was almost like a challenge to myself to make a song that can continue the vibes of the rest of the EP. Limited tapes sold out immediately, thank you so much Underwater Computing_ and to everyone who supported this release.

Released: April 16th, 2021

Wuhu Island.jpg

The Hidden Temple of Wuhu Island

My first plunderphonics styled album. Warped and skewed take on the Wii Sports music catalog. I grabbed a huge handful of my favorite tunes from the games and created this within a few days. I don’t remember much of creating this honestly. It was just a blur of chopping, warping, pitching and layering with my own instrumentation and plenty of field recordings and SFX. Thank you to anyone who picked up a tape and a big thank you to OasisLtd for bringing my designs to life and hosting them. More great albums to come from L a z u l i _ y e l l o w this year!

Released: March 26th, 2021

Dreamstation64-Cube360_PLATINUM.jpg

DreamStation64-Cube360_PLATINUM

Since the start of L a z u l i I have experimented with several styles in the areas of “vapor” and “mallsoft.” Just trying out some things I’ve wanted to do for a while. Bouncing around from more modern EDM vibes to light vapor-ambient interludes of interludes. From light-hearted weather channel music to a dark ketamine club on the moon. Happy to say there are no samples used in this album. Using several Korg Volcas, guitars, several keyboards and synths, and warping my voice in falsetto to create some unique vocal textures. Includes a ‘Long Version’ of the intro track and features Kiko Kaid & WAVE COMPLEX. Expect some new EP’s in 2021.

Marblesoft.jpg

Marblesoft. [w/BOSEBY]

Part 2 of 2. Step off the edge where the familiarity disintegrates smoothly, and let the embrace of a forgotten consumer ecosystem wrap cold textures around your mind. The first installment leaves you at ease in the control room where every space of the shopping slush traversed is tangible and recognizable. A system clearly delineated: walk, shop, eat, mingle, repeat--now viewed from the safety of a single position, with its elements before you in plain focus, now appearing as an unfamiliar amalgam of carefully arranged patterns of activity, decentered from the experience itself. Marblesoft drops into the cacophonous hum of machinery powering the schemata underlying abandoned Malls.

Released: July 30th, 2020

Memorysoft_.jpg

Memorysoft. [w/BOSEBY]

A part 1 of 2. Memorysoft is the somewhat familiar nostalgia.Capturing the essence of liminal spaces and isolation. The absence of life, but plenty of evidence. This first installment is a steady track through the experience. Beginning with deep slushwave to give you that overwhelming feeling when entering a hustling and bustling modern shopping area. Then as the EP progresses all that slowly fades away into this ethereal journey. All coming to a grinding pause when you hit the final track "Dancing Alone in the Control Room." Almost like a to be continued moment. Continued in Marblesoft. Get to know the video series.

d(emo)s.jpg

d ( e m o ) s

A collection of tracks I’ve kept for years. Originally released as Crossing Bridges under the releases “Cloudcorp” series. After recent polishing and now I have an alias that is vaporwave I’ve released it under Lazuli. Extremely classic vaporwave vibes here. Heavy sampling and warping on every track. Small instrumentation over several songs. Groovy, moody, and all over the place. Enjoy ~

Released: July 5th, 2020

BOSEBY REMIX-1.jpg

A l o n e @ H o m e 2 [single]

A cold washed out mesh of sound. Crafted from BOSEBY’s original. I added several layers of synths and textures to get that true slush sound. Not to mention pitching, time warping, chopping & reversing, and adding multiple reverbs and delays to really transform the song into something otherworldly. This is just a peek into the future collaborations on the way from L a z u l i _ y e l l o w & BOSEBY.

Released: June 26th, 2020

ハッピー? -1.jpg

ハッピー [single]

This slushwave single is the first of many. This extra warped track is an alternative version of a song you’ll find on “d ( e m o ) s” that will be available on all platforms later this year. ハッピー is layered with multiple delays and reverbs to create this sound. Hosting heavy 80s R&B sampling and extremely washed out drum loops. It’s abrupt beginning grabs you and leaves you in a digital paradise. Enjoy~

Released: June 3rd, 2020

AETHER CONNECT.jpg

Aether Connect

Lazuli’s first full-length album. An immersive journey through dissolution and dissociation through reality. Features a few friends and other aliases. Aether Connect’s long repetitive loops to get you fully enthralled in the music. Short upbeat tunes that are beat driven with plucky plastic synths. Including a few random total mind-melting vibes spiced throughout. Take a breath. Dive in.

Released: May 21st, 2020

bigsax-1.jpg

BIGSAX (ft. Joseph Jason Miller)

Dramatic and scenic. L a z u l i delivers that fluffy vaporwave blur vibe. With the classic drum machine sounds and loops to keep the song moving along smoothly. Features Joseph Jason Miller on saxophone ripping a beautiful solo the entire piece. Beautiful melodies you could just get lost in over and over. Also includes a long version of the song slowed and pitched. Just as soothing.

Released: April 15th, 2020

LOREM LPSUM.jpg

Lorem Lpsum [w/Spiral Sounds]

A collaborative EP between friends. Created during some long nights messing around on some classic keyboard sounds and here we are. These songs really capture the essence of retro video games and simply having the game on paused or some underwater level. Classic vaporwave vibe and very few samples used. Be sure to check out Spiral Sounds who helped out with a good deal of the keyboard playing.
