WEIRDCORE OST

by Crossing Bridges

Crossing Bridges is an abstract, psychedelic electronic music project that takes the listener into quirky musical territory.  You’ll find tracks that evoke sentiment without coming across as saccharine.  You’ll find yourself awed by some of the lush, pleasant melodies while being slightly unnerved by the peculiar sensibilities found throughout the music.  It’s almost as if you find yourself in an idyllic environment while simultaneously wondering “Am I awake, or am I dreaming?”

With “WEIRDCORE OST”, the latest offering under the Crossing Bridges project, the previous statements might effectively hit home as the music resonates throughout your aural senses.

Each of these 16 tracks offer a different mood and tonal color. What each of these tracks have in common is that they slightly bend in pitch throughout to create an effect that’s slightly warped and twisted – not enough to make one turned off, but certainly enough to capture the listener’s attention and create a mesmerizing mood.

I enjoyed the choices of synthesizer pads used throughout the album. Some of it reminded me of watching a VHS tape of a retro carnival. Some of it allowed me to recall bright days in the park with a sky so blue that it’s almost “too” perfect; the feeling that something just might be too good to be true. A touch of the tracks are more distinctly avant-garde, but not harsh or disturbing to the mood in any way.

If you’re in the mood for some intriguing music that takes your mind out of your daily comfort zone and allows you to stretch your horizons, then “Weirdcore OST” will be a nice treat to tickle your senses.

Highlights of the album:
“It’s Taking You Somewhere”
“Dead End, Pt. 1”, “Dead End, Pt. 2”
“Family Portrait”
“Welcome to the End”
